Latino Arts in Motion

Latino Arts in Motion is aimed to present Latino artistic and cultural activities at public spaces. The initiative includes performances and participation from artists in several areas including music, dance, street performance, painting, sculpture, multi-media artists, theater, and poetry reading.

Our goal is twofold: Provide Latino artists with the opportunity to participate in activities for artistic and cultural expression and also to provide members of the community at large (Latino and non-Latino) with the opportunity to experience first-hand the magic of Latino art creation. South Carolina has a vibrant and emerging arts community, we want to ensure that Hispanic artistry is represented in this new wave of artistic creation and that Latino artists are given the opportunity to participate, collaborate, and support the local arts scene.

As a small arts organization, we strongly believe in collaborative efforts –and are masters of working with a small budget. Arts in Motion provides new and established community events with the opportunity to enhance their cultural offering by adding a spicy sample of Latino art into their event. We will bring Latino Arts in Motion to events where the community congregates so they can experience Latino art creation.

We foster Latino arts as a means to provoke a positive impact in the community. This can only be achieved by presenting art not only as a visual show but educating and increasing awareness about our community. Latino Arts in Motion includes educational materials and trained volunteers that assist in informing/educating the community about the specific Latino cultural expression they are experiencing. The goal is not only exposure to Latino art but also an increase in the understanding of the Latino culture as an integral part of American society. As we are able to honor and foster our diversity, we will be able to build stronger, vibrant and connected communities.
